Having played old timers leagues for several years now, I'm not sure there is advantage of draft position. I have won from first pick, last pick and in the middle. Personally, I perfer to pick at the end of the first round, as I think I get better value in players I want slipping and I really love the 2 consecutive picks in the winter league. Towards the middle of the draft it allows you to pick two players that complement each other. For example a L/R platoon or a strong 69/70 player with a strong 71/72 player.
