Proposed private league for 2023 (one-year only)
12-team NL. This makes for a very full league, so playing time is more valuable (closer to MLB in reality) than typical 10-team SS leagues.
To partly mitigate the playing time premium, each team will draft two American League players during the draft. We would execute this by using ‘placeholder’ names from among the SS NL player list; players who are very unlikely to play in 2023 (perhaps an 18-yr old long-term prospect); and then "drop" those fake NL players after the spring draft concludes.
Three divisions, with one wild card making the playoffs; as was true in MLB for most of the last 30 years.
All other rules would be per normal SS.
Or, if a majority want an AL league instead, we'll go that way.
Post interest and other inputs here. Once we get to 7 or more parties, we’ll move discussion to email.
