BL Daubert is a 20-team continuing league which utilizes a salary cap system. Each team operates with a $100M budget each season. Salaries are assigned via an auction system. There are no predetermined limits on the number of players that may be retained between seasons.
An owner has dropped out leaving behind an orphan team. This is an owner who had taken over the team just a month ago, but now finds himself changing jobs and cities and unable to devote the necessary time to the management of the roster. So this team is back in foster care.
The following players are already locked in for the 2014 season:
Robinson Cano
Curtis Granderson
R.A. Dickey
C.C. Sabathia
Josh Reddick
Jimmy Rollins
Nick Swisher
Matt Harrison
Tyler Clippard
Ivan Nova
Scott Diamond
Miguel Gonzalez
Other players that can be retained include:
James Shields, Nick Markakis, Jonathan Papelbon, AJ Pierzynski, Jason Motte, Jason Vargas, Geovany Soto, Ryan Vogelsong, Ruben Tejada, Vernon Wells, Placido Polanco, Wilson Betemit, Lance Berkman, Jared Burton, John Danks, Boone Logan, Clay Rapada, Ryan Roberts, Raul Ibanez, Jordan Norberto, Ty Wigginton, and Luis Ayala.
Final decisions on “keepers” are due December 31. Because of the salary system, picking keepers is a little more complicated than normal leagues.
