New NL “root” league being established. There will be 10 teams in two divisions. Each team will initially protect 10 root team major league players. My root team in Washington, so I will choose 10 Nationals’ players. Each team will also initially protect 12 “root” league minor leaguers. In the initial Spring 2014 draft to be conducted in March 2014 each team will draft rounds 11-35. Those players will include one pick from the AL (so effectively the top 10 AL players will be available to draft). All other players in the NL will be draftable in these rounds.
There will be 5 mid-season supplemental drafts of 2 players each, run by SS rules. In addition, immediately after the June amateur draft each team will be assigned its top 2 picks in the draft.
In subsequent seasons each team will protect 14 major league players. At least 7 of the protected players must be “root” players. Each team may also protect without loss of picks up to 15 minor league players. At least 10 of the protected minor league players must be “root” minor league players to avoid loss of picks. Otherwise, standard SS rules will apply losing rounds 35, 34, etc. Rounds 15-35 and the same system of supplement pick rounds will be used in subsequent years. I can provide a copy of the proposed Constitution for further clarification of these highlights. Email me at

All of the present owners have participated in these leagues before and find them challenging and rewarding.
Five teams taken so far: Washington Nationals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cub, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
