This is a league where Player AAA won't beat you. We have an openings in BL-Power Root. It is Team #7.

The basic League is a 10 Team BL, with a 40-man roster caps and one 5 player draft. Each owner will have two MLB teams from which to draw players. Any of the players on those 2 MLB teams can be put on the owner’s 40-man roster. So in addition to your Root team you get one more team. The 40 man cap is just so Scoresheet knows which players you will be using that week. Plus, there will be an additional five players you can add. (See Below)

Warning! There is very little Trading in this league. If that is important to you. This is not a league for you.

My challenge with regular Scoresheet teams is that you may have a great strategy, but it can be undone by injuries, and you have no farm system to pull players from like the MLB. Sometimes it seems winning a league is more about avoiding injuries. You get some players from the Supps., but often times they are of a much lesser quality. I think the setup I describe below will lower the impact of injuries and base competition more on skill and knowledge of players.
Now to the question of how to get your teams. The first thing we have done is select Root Teams, from one of the 30 MLB teams. We hold a new Root team draft in January, so you can change your Root team in the future. Then we hold a 2nd team draft in late Jaunary. So you get a 2nd Team in addition to your Root Team. This pairing only lasts for the coming season.

In addition, to the players on your two MLB teams. You will be able to draft 5 players from the 10 unassigned teams. After the draft is completed, you can drop any of the five players and add another player from the 10 unassigned teams as free agents. That can be done any time. These players are included in the 40 player roster cap. The five player draft will occur in February.

Some Additional thoughts. No other owner can pick any of the players on your two teams. Therefore, you would have way more than 40 players protected from other owners. However, if one of your real teams trades players like at the trade deadline that could affect who is available to you. If the player is part of your 40 man roster he will stay on your team until the end of the season, or until you drop the player. If he is not on the 40 man roster you may lose control of that player.
Player AAA has almost no impact. If starters on your real life MLB teams are injured they bring up minor leaguers which can be used by your team the next week. The All-Star effect is fairly significant. In a league of All-Stars, the league wide ERA and OPS pretty much match the those of the MLB. You can drop someone from your roster and pick another player from your 2 teams any time you want. The Scoresheet “Report a Trade” link allows you to easily move players on and off your roster.

My hope is that this will lead to competitive teams focused on winning each year. There is no reason for teams to be tanking for a better draft position as there is no significant draft.

The Current Root teams taken are the Cubs, Dodgers, Yankees, Blue Jays, Mets, Cardinals, Astros, Padres and Brewers. You can pick one of the remaining teams as your Root Team.

The league name is BL-Power Root. If you look at the league. Most of the players currently on rosters will need to be dropped when we ramp up for the season as teams largely reset each season. I can you a two page set of rules, which has a bit more detail.
