BL Pix
[www.scoresheet.com] is a 16-team league and has existed for over 25 years. We do a live Chat room draft using google chat room. This year the draft is Sunday, March 23 starting at 9am EST. We always draft the sunday before the season starts.

Teams 10, 12, and 14 are Open.

Team 12's owner is leaving this season after his co owner left before last season. They had been in the league 20 years. Team 12 has the 13th pick in the draft.
Team 14 was a new owner who had not played scoresheet in about 8 years and decided it was not as fun as he remembered. Team 14 has the 4th pick in the draft.
Team 10 was a playoff team last year with the 11th pick in the draft. The majority of the owners have been with the league at least 20 years. We've just had a tough time shoring up the new owners.

One of the things we wanted to insure when it was created was that competitive balance would be maintained and we would avoid one or two teams becoming perpetually dominant. (Although, It is still possible to build a very good team for many years.)This aim was accomplished well because of a unique keeper system. At the end of each season owners create a rank-ordered list of 18 players. The top 3 for each team are automatically kept with the others divided into 4 groups of 5, 4, 3, and 3 players. Then each team loses one randomly-determined player from each group, and those players are added to the draft pool for the coming season. Thus there are always good players in the pool and the weaker teams get a chance to improve. Also each team’s last 4 picks may be used to protect rookies (and they are tradeable), insuring that the annual draft pool will always contain some attractive rookies.

I've had some questions about the random nature of the keeper system. The way each group is determined is by the the Dow Jones number at the end of each day. Specifically, the last 2 numbers after the decimal point. So one player is lost each day. example below

Imaginary closing values of the DJIA the week after the Super Bowl:
Tuesday 9,981.55 (value we use is 55)
Wednesday 9,941.08 (value we use is 08)
Thursday 10,021.81 (value we use is 81)
Friday 9,957.59 (value we use is 59)

Imaginary Team Group List
Group 1 (Lose 0)
Name Stock Market Range Probability of Losing Player
Ken Griffey Jr. N/A 0%
Roger Clemens N/A 0%

Group 2 (Lose 1)
