We play with modified rules. For example we limit the length of time you can hold a player. Once a player is drafted he must go back into the draft after 3 seasons. If he is traded, the length of time remaining on his contract is traded. This is more like real baseball as GM’s make trades understanding how long they can control a player. You may decide to “go for it this year” and trade guys with 2 or 3 years remaining for a star with 1 year remaining.

We limit the number of keepers to 6, (plus 2 rookies which I will explain later). We feel that limiting the number of keepers and limiting the length an owner can hold them prevents 1 or 2 owners from dominating the league year after year. It keeps the draft pool stocked with good players. Leagues which hold 10-12 players usually get very unbalanced after a couple of years and the draft becomes less relevant.

We do allow owners to keep 2 rookies (as defined by Scoresheet) if they desire. If you keep 1 or 2 rookies you forfeit 1 or 2 late draft picks. For example if you drafted Bryce Harper and held him all year…you can protect him in exchange for a late pick. If you don’t have any rookies you care to keep, you just utilize the draft picks. We believe there should be a reward for finding young talent…plus you paid a price by using a roster spot all year.

Many of the players in this league have been together for 10 years. You don’t need Scoresheet experience, but we are looking for serious owners who will manage their rosters and do their best to stay competitive.
