The HIGHEST defense a player can have if he is out of position is AVERAGE. Alexei would be only a 1.85 at 1B. It would mkae more sense to play Jeter or Hanley R at 1B, where his defense would only be 4 pts below avg instead of 10, and you would still get a good bat there.
