35 Rounds
15 Rounds for minor leaguers
• Only minor leaguers can be drafted in rounds 36 through 50
1 AL Player drafted initially
3 3 round supplemental drafts through the year in May, June and July

Following years
15 Protection slots (Round 1 thru 15)
2 AL Keepers
35 Rounds (Round 16 thru 35-regular players/Round 36 thru 50 minor leaguers)
• the number of minor leaguers protected are deducted from the end of the draft. (i.e.- 10 minor league players protected would give you 5 minor leaguer draft picks in round 36 thru 40)

• Only minor leaguers can be drafted in rounds 36 through 50

3 3 round supplemental drafts through the year in May, June and July
