TO FORMAT AND READ E-MAIL RESULTS:

Here are the instructions we have come up with to format the results if they do not 'line up' when you open them. Hopefully these will help solve any printing/viewing problems you may have (please let us know if not.)

Also, as you probably know, each league has its own web page, and everything (including each game's scoresheets) that comes in the e-mailed report is also on your league web page. To get to your league's web page, first go to our web page that lists all the leagues, and then click on your league's name/link. The address for the "List of Leagues' page is: www.scoresheet.com/list.php Each week's standings, rosters, stat tables, etc., all get uploaded to the web every Monday evening/night.

We send results in the body of the e-mail, and you should be able to view/print either from your e-amil program, or you can copy and paste them into a Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word, or virtually any word processing program file.

Our results are set up to print on our Laser Printer, using a small fixed width font, a rather small type size, and lines 107 characters long. You will have to do a little formatting to have your reports print out like they should. The first time it will probably take you a few minutes of experimenting, and then in future weeks it should take you less than a minute.

Microsoft Word is what we use as our word processing program. The following instructions work on our system, and should roughly translate to whatever computer and word processing program you are using. The steps to follow are:

1) Open the copied file in some word processing program. Once again, when opening the file, if asked, open as text only (NOT as text with formatting, and NOT as text with layout).

2) Once open, you probably need to select the whole document and change the font to a fixed width font. (A fixed width font means all the characters are the same width. For example, with a fixed width font an i and an x take up the same amount of space, enabling letters to line up in a straight line. Either Courier or Monaco are the normal fixed width fonts. A web browser like Internet Explorer or a simple program like Notepad will probably already use a fixed-width font for files that end in ".txt", but a word processor like Microsoft Word probably will not.) Then, make the font smaller (size 9 or 10) to help all the text fit in one line.

3) Finally, make the margins smaller (.45 inches or so.) Or, you can also set your page set-up to print out the reports 'sideways', meaning there will be more length per line, giving you room to use a larger type size.

If you save your file as text with layout, or text with formatting, then your word processing program will probably stick carriage returns at the end of lines to enable them to fit on the page. But, if you save the file as text only, and then use a fixed width font with a small type size (courier 9 or 10), and make your margins small, then each line should fit on the page, without being broken up. (Or, as mentioned above, you might prefer printing sideways, in "landscape mode".)

Computers are all different - these are general instructions that should work for most computers. Do a little experimenting, and if you are having problems maybe a friend or co-worker can help out. Also, please do give us a call if this is not working for you - we will do our best to help you out.
