Brett Favre: the Good the Bad the Ugly

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Bret Favre arrived in Minneapolis as the starting quarterback for the Vikings amidst public frenzy and sometimes, disgust.   Favre said his decision to return to the NFL is partly because his daughter wants to see him win another Super Bowl.   Whether that will happen is way too early to be determined since it’s pre-season.  What we do know for sure is  Bret Favre is officially the Vikings quarterback bringing the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

The Good

Season ticket sales for the Vikings game have skyrocketed  since Favre’s arrival in Minneapolis and sales of jersey No. 4 (Favre) have risen sharply too.  Its likely that businesses in Minneapolis will experience an increase in revenues.

The Bad

Favre should refrain from announcing his retirement publicly when he knows he still has it in him to play football.   He obviously loves the game and injury or no,  he still wants to play.  So, as long as he has the energy and remains injury free,  Favre should remain quiet about his career plans until the game is no longer in him.

The Ugly

Some football fans are seemingly frustrated with the to-be Hall of Famer’s flip flopping with retirement, and I guess the media frenzy that went along with his recent coming out of retirement after leaving the New York Jets did not help the situation either.

Twitter has been home to many thoughts on Favre…

@boobie_bby Bret Favre Retire For Good Pleaseeee…!!! Lmaooo!

@Lionslicer9999 Bret Favre will retire before the season is over, then the vikings will make it to the super bowl and he’ll unretire and win the super bowl

@GPeditor Dignity equals Bret Favre retiring as a Packer. Oops — blew that. Well, maybe just one dismal Jet season for the ego and then out.  Oops…

What do you think about Favre putting a uniform back on?
