A Tough Week for Sports Fans

Wednesday’s shocking news of the suicide of Junior Seau, a lock for the NFL Hall of Fame and a big part of the San Diego community, will sting for a long time. There will be questions that fans, and certainly his friends and family, may never get an answer to. It’s just tragic and sad. Not much more can be said. On Thursday came more bad news when Yankees’ closer Mariano Rivera injured his knee while flagging fly balls during batting practice. It was clear by his reaction at the time that it was serious, and that is indeed what the medical exam confirmed – torn right ACL and a legendary career perhaps over. Even Yankee “haters” have to appreciate Rivera for the phenomenal player he has been over a stellar career. The Hall of Fame is a given. Now the question is will he ever play again?
