Scoresheet Basketball

SPECIAL NOTE: SCORESHEET WILL NOT BE OFFERING A BASKETBALL GAME IN THE 2007-08 SEASON. WE DO HOPE TO BE BACK IN THE FALL OF 2008!

Fall is almost here, and the start of the basketball season is not far away! And what better way to enjoy the upcoming season than by playing fantasy basketball? Watching one of 'your guys' highlighted on SportCenter, or talking about trading Tim Duncan for Jason Kidd with a fellow league owner, can certainly make for some great times this winter. And watching a game on TV on a rainy January evening is sure a lot more fun if some of the guys playing are on your team!

(NOTE: CURRENT TEAM OWNERS, for links to your league page, the player list, the rules packet, etc., go to:
Scoresheet Basketball Rules and Customer Support)

As in all Scoresheet fantasy sports games, we've done our best to design the most complete scoring system possible for fantasy basketball. The following table gives our scoring system, and shows that your players earn 'Scoresheet points' for more than just filling the hoop:

 Shooting:  2.0 2-point FG
 1.0 Free Throw
 3.0 3-point FG
–0.5 FT Attempt
–0.6 FG Attempt (guard)
–0.63 FG Attempt (forward)
–0.66 FG Attempt (center)
 Rebounding:  0.7 Rebound
 Play-Making:  0.75 Assist –1.0 Turnover
Defense:  1.5 Steal  1.0 Block –0.5 Personal Foul

In each category, we multiply each player's points per minute played in the real games that week times the number of minutes he plays for you that game, to produce his score for you. (Don't worry, our computer does all the arithmetic!) Because shot attempts cost your players 'Scoresheet points', higher shooting percentages are rewarded (just as in real life it is better to shoot 50% than 40%!)

As the coach, you decide who starts and who gets splinters from riding pine. You'll even be able to decide if you want to mix in a 3-guard set, or play a third forward instead of a center for part of the game. By deciding which of your players get the most playing time, you'll be able to get the most out of your players!

Join Alone or With Friends: Join alone or with just a couple of buddies, and we'll put you in a 12-team league which drafts by either postal mail or e-mail (your choice). If you join with a group, forming your own complete league, you can hold your own live draft!

Prompt service: You can count on us to be there all season long; in 19 years we've never missed a weekly report.

Have the most fun: For 19 years we have put all of our efforts into running the most enjoyable fantasy leagues possible. At Scoresheet, you will play in real leagues, where you will take part in an actual draft (meaning a player can only be on one team in each league.) You will participate in real trade talks with other owners in your league, not just pick up players from a 'pool'. Each week of the season you'll compete in head-to-head games against other owners in your league. In addition, there are weekly free agent drafts, and the season concludes with a 3 week playoff. And there are no weekly fees in Scoresheet Basketball. All depth chart changes, trades, and free agent pickups in Scoresheet Basketball are made at no charge.

As soon as we receive your order we'll rush you a complete draft packet, including player lists with every player's total 'Scoresheet points' from last season, their 'points' per 40 minutes played, and their age. The earlier you join, the more time you'll have to prepare for the draft, make trades, and begin enjoying the upcoming basketball season. Get started by sending in your order form now, and let the games begin! Also, this year $5 of your team fee will be donated to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
